Worms are parasitic worms that live in the human body. It is known that there are about three hundred species of helminths in the world. The worms parasitize in the internal organs, affecting them and causing various diseases.
Causes
Parasite eggs enter the human body in various ways.
- Contact is one of the most common ways to enter the human body. Contagious helminth infections are transmitted when personal hygiene rules are not followed (dirty hands).
- Geohelminthiasis. The larvae enter the soil or water with the feces of sick animals or by insect transfer. Flies are the main carrier of infection. Also, the source of invasion is direct contact with a sick animal, through feces, saliva or wool.
- Biohelminthiasis. The infection occurs through the alimentary route through food. Worm eggs enter the body through vegetables, fruits and unwashed eggs. Eating insufficiently thermally processed meat, fish, and shellfish also leads to invasion.
- transmission path. Some parasites enter the body through insect bites.
Signs of the appearance of worms
The presence of a disease in a person can be identified by the following symptoms:
- itching in the anus;
- bloating, flatulence;
- chair rape;
- allergic rashes on the body;
- weight changes;
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
If these signs appear, you should immediately contact your doctor, who will issue a referral for tests and diagnose the disease.
worm treatment
It is not possible to detect the presence of the disease immediately. The latency period can last for years. After diagnosis, anthelmintic drugs are prescribed by a specialist who conducts a series of tests, identifying the type of parasite and the stage of the disease. For each type of parasite, a specific course of treatment will be prescribed. Self-medication in this case is contraindicated. In the acute form of the disease, the doctor prescribes infusions, injections.
Anthelmintic treatment is not always effective, so the course of therapy is repeated after a few weeks. During treatment, part of the helminthic worms dies and passes out through the feces.
The treatment of worms has an integrated approach, which includes immunotherapy and the use of antibacterial drugs. All family members must undergo a preventive course against helminthiasis.
